Well friends, it’s been a wild ride.
After 4 months in Melbourne, 7 months in Cairns, and a few weeks bouncing around smaller towns along the east coast, it’s official: I have LESS THAN 1 MONTH left in Australia!
It feels weird, I’m not gonna lie. All the friends, memories, and goofy birds I’ve seen and experienced on this Ozzie journey have been unforgettable, and I can say without hesitation that Australia (especially Cairns) truly feels like home to me. BUT, despite all of this, I’ve never been more hyped for what the future holds.
Final Weeks In Oz
As you may have seen on my Instagram story, I successfully convinced my parents to come visit! I’m ecstatic that we were able to organize this, because this will almost certainly be their only trip to Australia. Taking them scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef has been a goal of mine since I arrived, so I can’t wait to check that off the list. After 1 full year apart, it will be really special to spend some quality time together on this road trip!
In my last post, I mentioned that I’ll be tackling a brand new project on this road trip: Polaroid photography! Since I lost my DSLR in Cairns, I have zero excuses left to not give old-school film photography a try. I seriously CAN’T WAIT to give it a go, and put together a little scrapbook of the resulting photos to share with you all. Stay tuned for that!
Drumroll please . . . . . . . . . .
I’M MOVING TO NEW ZEALAND!!
Did you guys really think I was ready to come home and be a responsible adult? I’ll have you know that last Friday, I drank a 1-day old pitcher of beer just to save 8 dollars, so you are clearly mistaken.
As of now, the plan is to chill for a while in Wellington, the 2nd-largest NZ city behind Auckland. Who knows what’ll happen after that…your guess is as good as mine!
I couldn’t be more hyped for this next step, guys! If you know any New Zealanders I could meet up with while I’m there, please leave a comment below. I know absolutely zero Kiwis, so I’m all ears.
Big things coming, folks. Can’t wait to continue sharing this ride with you 🙂
