BEN WEHRMAN

Well well well…

First off, you’re terrible at following instructions.

Second, I just wanted to say a massive THANK YOU, for simply being here on this website!

It wasn’t too long ago that I was doing the exact same thing- browsing around the blog of one of my biggest inspirations, Tim Ferriss.

When I first came across Tim’s blog, I had no idea who he was, what he did, or where he came from…but he seemed like a genuinely interesting guy, so I found myself reading anyway.

I clicked through post after post, getting lost in his thoughts and learning all kinds of random new things along the way. Something about putting myself in the shoes of a complete stranger, and listening to his unique ideas on anything and everything deeply intrigued me.

The world needs more of this personal transparency. Genuine humanness without any agenda, other than one’s own unique life experience.

Everyone has something to share!

That’s why I started this blog. To share what I’m passionate about in my own life, in hopes of teaching, entertaining, or inspiring YOU in any way I can.

And beyond that? I hope to encourage you to do the same!

Whether it be a blog, YouTube channel, podcast, or whatever…I hope this project can tip you over the edge on starting that new venture that you’ve been thinking about, just like Tim Ferriss’s blog did for me.

In other words: Less scrolling. More creating.

In the year 2020, the average human lifespan is 78 years, 339 days, 10 hours, 48 minutes.

The fact that you’ve taken 5 minutes (or approximately .001%) of your life to read this post means the world to me…but I’m not here to shower you with appreciation.

I’m here to remind you that you’re living proof that there are people out there interested in hearing what you have to say too, no matter how unqualified or inexperienced you may feel.

Now, with that said, here’s what I want you to do. Choose any 2-day period in the next week, and follow these steps:

1. Set an early bedtime, and do whatever it takes to get the best night’s sleep you’ve had in weeks

Meditation, candle-lit bath, pizza-induced food coma, whatever works best for you.

2. Get up the next morning and immediately go for a run, hike, or whatever type of outdoor exercise you prefer to get your brain churning

Bonus points if you’re a night exerciser like me, since this will catch your body off-guard.

3. Take a post-adventure cold shower to jar every cell in your body awake

It’s not fun, but trust me…it works wonders in shaking your system out of a funk.

4. Grab your favorite morning beverage, get comfortable, and open up your writing program of choice (I use Google Docs, personally)

If you’re the old-fashioned type, a physical notepad can do the job too. But personally, my brain moves faster than my handwriting, so I gave up on this a while ago.

Also: some relaxing, lyric-free background music can be a nice bonus if you’re into that. I work best with Jazz/Lo-Fi live streams on YouTube.

5. Goal brainstorm!

Whether it’s getting that promotion at your job, hitting a new bench press max, or heck…maybe starting your own blog! It doesn’t matter what it is. Write down EVERY goal you’ve thought about in the past month, no matter how big or small.

6. Lists Lists Lists!

Under each goal in your document, start listing out the steps it’ll take for you to get there.

For example, when I was intimidated out of my mind to start building this website, I put together a list that looked something like this:

  • Build a website
    • Spend a whole day watching YouTube tutorials
    • Pick out the very best one
    • Follow along the steps laid out in the video
    • Buy a domain name
    • Choose a hosting service
    • ***etc. etc.***
    • Publish the site
    • CELEBRATE!

Pro tip: ALWAYS end the goal with a celebration. You deserve it.

You’d be amazed at how far a simple daily routine like this one can go.

I’ve made it a priority to implement this morning schedule as often as possible since I began travelling in late 2018, and I can’t speak highly enough on how much it’s helped me stay in line physically, mentally, and ambitionally (yes, that’s now a word).

But don’t take my word for it — give it a go!

DO NOT TELL ME YOU DON’T HAVE THE TIME. If you clicked on a blog post with as useless of a title at this one, then you’ve already disarmed yourself of that excuse.

Get on it, and please let me know how it goes in the comments!

~~~
That’s all I’ve got for today, folks. I know this wasn’t what you were expecting when you opened this, but I hope it’s what you needed to hear in this moment.
Oh, and if you do take this message to heart, and build the next billion-dollar empire?
You better mention me in your TED talk.
Love you all.
